Trailer Connector Socket Installation - 2007 Chevrolet Silverado- Video
Today on our 2007 Chevy Silverado were going to install the Hopkins wiring kit part #: 40975. Weve gone away and removed the spare tire because the wiring we need to connect to is just above it. This is the manufactures wiring connector, again, its located just above the spare tire for this application. Before we can connect it we need to go ahead and remove the clip from the wiring and then remove the cap to the 7 pole plug, press on the lock and remove the 7 pole cap. Next lets go ahead and mount our new bracket and install our 7 way which well be fastening with the self-tapping screws that are provided. So first were going to go ahead and locate where we want to install our bracket and then Ill put a couple of marks to the bracket attachment points just to help me keep me lined up as I install them. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2007 Chevrolet Silverado- Video
The 2007 Silverado body style as well as the 2008 styles have a place on the bumper where the plug can be mounted. We remove the cover here to give us the hole to mount the plug into place. Once we've removed the knockout from the bumper area we'll place the harness into position. We're going to have to drill holes out to mount this into place. You can use either a pen to mark the holes or a punch tool which is what I'm going to use. Now we can move onto the drilling. Once we get the holes drilled, we want to mount the connector into place with the existing fasteners. Once we have the fasteners in we want to secure them with the nuts on the back side and tighten them down. Once we've mounted the plug onto the bumper area, we just need to make the connection up underneath the vehicle here. This is the back end of the connector we just installed, and this is the other side of the factory 7 pin connector. You just want to plug these together.
